Research

Breanna is a Postdoctoral Fellow whose work focuses on supporting Inuit self-determination in marine research and governance. She holds a PhD in Interdisciplinary Studies (2025) and a Master of Marine Management (2020) from Dalhousie University. 

Since 2018, Breanna has collaborated with Inuit communities in Nunatsiavut. Through participatory mapping, interviews, and workshops, she has worked alongside Inuit knowledge holders to identify pathways for bridging diverse knowledge systems and advancing Inuit-led priorities in marine research and decision-making. 

Breanna’s research sits at the intersection of western science and Indigenous Knowledge. She is interested in transcultural research approaches grounded in a commitment to respecting, learning from, and upholding Indigenous knowledge. Her work aims to strengthen ethical, transdisciplinary research practices and support community-driven approaches to marine research and governance.
